Position Summary:

The Quality Supervisor leads the daily operations, personnel, and workflow of the Quality department to ensure quality activities are performed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.

The Quality Supervisor executes the vision, priorities, quality framework, and strategic direction established by the Quality Manager. This role serves as the operational leader of the Quality Department and is responsible for coordinating workflows, personnel, investigations, product lifecycle activities, and cross-functional quality support. 


Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate quality activities associated with new products, new raw materials, specification revisions, label revisions, supplier changes, and product lifecycle activities.

  • Collaborate with R&D, Production, Purchasing, Packaging, Receiving, and other departments to support implementation of new products and product changes.

  • Execute quality priorities established by the Quality Manager.

  • Coordinate quality review activities to support timely material and product disposition decisions.  

  • Supervise daily Quality department operations and Quality Coordinator activities.

  • Monitor quality workflows, open actions, investigations, CAPAs, change controls, and product lifecycle activities and coordinate timely completion of required actions.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, training, and performance feedback to Quality personnel.

  • Ensure quality workflows, investigations, CAPAs, change controls, supplier qualification activities, and product lifecycle activities are completed according to established procedures and timelines. 

  • Assign, monitor, and follow up on investigations, corrective actions, change controls, and quality-related activities to ensure timely completion. 

  • Review and approve rework activities, destruction requests, and disposition activities involving nonconforming materials and products. 

  • Review investigations, corrective actions, and effectiveness measures for completeness and compliance.

  • Escalate significant quality, compliance, operational, personnel, or workflow concerns to the Quality Manager.

  • Lead process improvements, quality enhancements, and efficiency initiatives.

  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.

  • Attend required meetings and activities.

  • Read and sign all applicable SOPs.

  • Follow all applicable regulatory, company, and safety requirements.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervises Quality Coordinators and other assigned Quality personnel.

  • Assigns work, establishes priorities, and monitors performance.

  • Assign and oversee continuous improvement projects. 

  • Coordinate resolution of overdue quality actions and ensure accountability for assigned quality activities. 

  • Provides coaching, training, and employee development.

  • Participates in hiring, onboarding, performance evaluations, and corrective action activities.

  • Ensures departmental compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Ensures adequate cross-training and backup coverage exists for critical quality functions.

  • Reviews departmental workload distribution and reallocates resources as needed.

  • Establishes operational priorities and departmental goals aligned with business objectives.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or personnel management experience required.

  • Experience in quality assurance, quality control, compliance, or regulated manufacturing environments required.

  • Experience within dietary supplements, food, cosmetics, botanicals, or related regulated industries required.

  • Experience managing employee performance, training, and workload allocation required.

  • Familiarity with FDA regulations, including CFR 111, 117, 701, and applicable cGMP requirements preferred.

  • Experience with investigations, CAPAs, document control, training systems, and quality systems preferred.

  • Experience with ERP systems, QMS software, document control systems, and workflow management tools preferred.

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, ERP/QMS systems, and reporting tools required.


Physical Requirements (not limited to):

  • Frequently moves, transports and positions items, boxes, products, and related equipment up to 25 lbs as needed.

  • Constantly positions self and moves throughout warehouse, laboratory, production, and office environments.

  • Must be able to read, understand, review, and maintain records, documents, and electronic information systems, with or without reasonable accommodation. 

  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, printer, scanner, and copy machine.

  • Must be able to work around moderate noise level.


Pay: $60,000-$65,000/year, depending on experience (Full-time 40 hours/week, Exempt position)
